Polyvinylidene Fluoride Resin (PVDF)

Our industry standard, Kynar 500 resin-based coatings contain 50% fluoropolymer or 70% fluoropolymer and are rated as a good to excellent corrosion barrier. Primarily used for exterior applications, they create a thin protective layer over the material and are backed by a manufacturer warranty of up to 20 years.

PVDF resin-based coatings provide resistance to chemicals, solvents, weathering, chalking, direct sunlight and UV radiation. Both 50% PVDF and 70% PVDF are 2-coat minimum paint systems, including a primer and color coat, with the higher performance paint systems requiring 3-coats or 4-coats. In some cases a clear top coat is essential for an added layer of protection.

Baked Enamel

While harder than other liquid paints, baked enamel is not as corrosion resistant as Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) resin-based paints. Primarily used for long lasting interior applications, baked enamel coatings are normally recommended for interior use when cost is a major factor. Depending on the application baked enamel paint systems are warrantied for up to 1 year.

Commonly used on column covers, ceiling trim, gratings and interior hand rails. Baked enamels are a 1-coat system, they do not require a primer and are applied directly to the pretreated aluminum metal.
